I'm ready to sweat pink - run and eat like a runner!

I am so excited to be a part of the Sweat Pink Ambassador's team for Fit Approach!

As you all know, I have a passion for exercising: swimming, running, yoga, weight lifting and all things fitness! I eat healthy to live, and I'd rather wake up early in the morning for a workout, then to stay up late eating and drinking empty calories that'll slow down my drive!

And yes! I do run with pink shoe laces on my sneakers!

My current workout goals are to train six days a week. I've already started doubles, in other words, I'll do a cardio session in the morning, and a weightlifting or yoga class at night. I will do this three days a week though. I'm a really busy woman with a day job and a freelance writing gig for a NASCAR website: Skirts and Scuffs!

Future goals include running a 5K. It's scheduled for October 14th, 2012. It's my third year running and this year, I've 'upped' my standards. I want to run this in less than 25 minutes. I know I can do it, but I have to change my lifestyle a wee-bit to get my body fully prepared for the challenge.

I have a habit of eating like a body builder, with less carbs and tons of veggies and proteins. I hear though that runners have a higher percentage of carb in-take. For me, this will be a challenge.  This blog will become my public journal for my journey to learn to eat like a runner, and less like a body builder. You probably can't see it, but I do have a piece of steak in that cart! That's just a few things I eat ...and yes my fridge is always stocked with chicken, eggs and fish - the best proteins! I also drink black coffee with no sugar or sugar substitutes!

Another bad habit I have - since I'm being honest- I do not like to eat. When I was about 24 years old, I had a lot to learn about eating like an athlete and I love that I learned to be in control of it, but some days, I skip meals and I know that is really bad for runners.

Another goal I have is to transform my body. I'd like to cut my abs up some more. I hate, I mean I really HATE to take cell phone mirror pictures but I'll do it to show progress! Like how messy my hair gets after a work out? Here is week one:

This morning, July 22nd, I went for an early morning run and swim. Now, I'm off to spend time with friends at the pool, I'm sure we'll get some swimming done!

Happy Sunday!
